Fergus Ewing
Independent. Experienced. Committed.
Fergus Ewing has proudly served the people of Inverness and Nairn since the Scottish Parliament was established in 1999. He is one of the most experienced and recognisable voices in the Highlands and is known for standing up for his constituents even when that meant challenging his own party. Now standing as an independent, Fergus continues to put the Highlands first in everything he does.
Fergus grew up in a political family. His mother, Winnie Ewing, was one of the most respected figures in Scottish public life. A qualified solicitor, Fergus ran his own law practice before entering public service, bringing with him a sharp eye for detail and a strong commitment to fairness.
Throughout his career, Fergus has held key ministerial roles including Minister for Community Safety, Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, and Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy. In each of these appointments he worked hard to support rural communities, grow the economy and improve Scotland’s infrastructure.
He has been a leading voice in the campaign to dual the A9 and A96, pressing the Scottish Government to honours its promises and pushing tirelessly to secure the investment the Highlands deserve.
Fergus is a familiar face across the constituency. Whether meeting residents, attending local events or raising issues in Parliament, he has always focused on delivering real results for the people he represents.
Now, as an independent candidate, Fergus is asking for your support to continue that work. He is free from party pressure and driven only by what is right for his constituents in Inverness and Nairn and the Highland region.
Putting the Highlands Before Politics.
Now more than ever, Fergus believes the Highlands needs a voice that can speak for them without fear or favour. After more than two decades of public service and a career defined by standing up for his constituents, he has made the decision to run as an independent. He will not stay silent when the Highlands are be overlooked.
Fergus is not driven by party lines. He is driven by fairness, by results and by a deep sense of duty to the people of Inverness and Nairn. His focus is clear. Improve lives. Protect local services. Secure the investment our communities deserve.
This campaign is about cutting through the noise, challenging the status quo and giving the Highlands a voice that cannot be ignored. Fergus is ready to keep fighting for what is right. Your support will strengthen that effort.
